Badlands Hair Studio is a proud Green Circle Salon member. Green Circle is the industry’s first sustainable salon solution dedicated to fighting beauty waste and climate change. As a Certified Sustainable Salon we collect our beauty waste, and send it into a sorting facility in Canada where the waste is repurposed.

To help support this ongoing effort, we have a small fee of $1 for haircut services (appointments 30 minutes or longer) and $2 for color services. This fee will go directly towards covering the cost of our Green Circle membership.

How our waste products get repurposed:

Hair Clippings: turned into bio-composite plastic to make into recycle bins, used to research and develop new environmental technology like insulation and stormwater filtration, composted with other organic waste.

Used Foils and Color Tubes: sorted by grade and type, melted down into aluminum sheets or bars, and used to make new products like car parts and bicycles!

Excess Hair Color: Turned into clean energy or be separated into oil & water; the oil is blended into fuel and the water is cleaned and returned into the water system.

Paper: Sorted by grade, broken down into paper pulp, then used to make new paper products or cellulose insulation.

Plastic: Sorted by type, cleaned, ground into small pieces, then used to make new products like shampoo bottles!

PPE Waste: Safely incinerated and turned into clean renewable energy to power homes and businesses, and/or the ash can be used to make filler in asphalt and other construction materials, like brick.
